OBITUARY - ROBERTA MAE "BERT" (HINDES) WOLFE

TRIBUTE: Roberta "Bert" Mae WOLFE, daughter of Frank and Gertude (WEETER) HINDES, was born on her father's birthday in Creston, Iowa. She spent her childhood on a Ringold County farm. She enjoyed caring for animals and playing with her close friend, Jeanie BOOTH.

She loved attending Sunday school and church at Mt. Zion and was baptized with her sister and friends in Mount Ayr, Iowa, Lake.

Her education began at Modoc Country School, a one-room school of which she had fond memories. She continued her schooling in Mount Ayr and Kellerton, Iowa.

In 1963 with dreams of the big city, Mrs. WOLFE moved to Colorado. As a young mother and homemaker she was a member of the PTA, leader of Cub Scouts and Brownies, and a youth bowling coach.

She began a career in accounting and held numerous positions in the Denver area. Not being proud of leaving high school before graduating, she worked hard and received her diploma in 1987. She studied and became a volunteer counselor for families in ALANON. She lived in the northern suburbs of Denver for 37 years.

In the fall of 2000, she moved to Greeley when she married her husband, Richard WOLFE. Her life was then filled with crafting, decorating, gardening and travel. She enjoyed helping her husband with his work and traveling with him. She loved going to Hawaii and Las Vegas, and on long road trips with her husband. An occasional jaunt to Black Hawk with family was a favorite pastime. She was quite lucky on her favorite slots. Her parties at holidays, birthdays and special occasions were always a real treat for family and friends.

Although her health declined the last few years, from lung fibrosis, Mrs. WOLFE kept a positive attitude and was a joy to be around. She will be remembered as a caring person who was never too busy to help someone in need. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that warmed the heart.

Mrs. Wolfe died of cancer Friday in Greeley.

Survivors are her husband, Richard WOLFE; a son, Randee PRIEST and wife Lynda; a daughter, Ronda PRIEST; a brother, Charles HINDES and wife Betty; a sister, Marjorie THOMPSON; four granddaughters, Lyndsee PRIEST, Victoria PRIEST, Jessica PRIEST and Catherine PRIEST; and nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Highland Mortuary and Cemetery, 10201 N. Grant St., Thornton with visitation at 4-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
