OBITUARY - GLEN ARCHIE WILMETH

Glen Archie WILMETH, 87, of Creston died January 1, 2006, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. The Rev. Clark FINEHOUT will officiate the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Afton. Open visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7 p.m. Masonic service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mr. WILMETH, son of Edith (CARSON) and Archie WILMETH, was born October 20, 1918, in Diagonal. He attended Diagonal Schools. On August 10, 1941, he married Carol M. HUSS in Afton. They lived in the Afton area where he farmed.

After retiring in 1983, they moved to Creston. On April 2, 1987, he married Shirley (McKAY) LAWRENCE at the First United Methodist Church in Creston. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 522 in Creston, Eastern Star No. 554 in Prescott and Emblem Chapter No. 64 in Corning, Presbyterian Church and Methodist Church for many years. He served on the Farmers Co-op Board of Directors in Afton.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley WILMETH; daughter Rosalie (husband Larry) DENTON of Creston; son Stephen (wife Roxy) WILMETH of Carol Stream, Ill.; four grandchildren, Cynthia McREYNOLDS (fiancé Todd CURTIS) and Charles (wife Tammy) DENTON, all of West Des Moines, Kimberly (husband Steve) MARTIN of Waukee, Kelly (husband Bernie) PALLARDY of Geneva, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Kayla STRAIN, Gary DENTON, Leslie DENTON, Haley MARTIN, Jacob MARTIN, Bryan PALLARDY and Tanner CURTIS; two brothers, Dale (wife Ida) WILMETH of Creston and Orlo (wife Imogene) WILMETH of Des Moines; two stepchildren, Ruth Ann (husband Ken) BATTEN of El Cajon, Calif., and Isaac (wife Angelina) HERRERA Jr. of Creston; six step-grandchildren, Colton James KNIPFER, Ashely Rene KNIPFER, Casandra Marie BATTEN, Kenneth Duane Batten Jr., Matthew Bosha and Isaac HERRERA III,; one step-great-grandchild, Jayce BATTEN; three brother in-laws, D. L. Mac (wife Mary) McKAY of Corning, Roland (wife Rochelle) McKAY of Fort Dodge and Bill BAILEY of Coin; sister in-law, Leota COLLINS of Tingley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Carol WILMETH in 1985 and brother Oren WILMETH.
