OBITUARY - MRS. SUSAN WALTERS.

Susan Emma POORE, daughter of Alvan (sic) and Julia POORE, was born July 25th, 1852, in Petersburg, Indiana, and passed away at her home in Mount Ayr, August 6, 1930, at the age of 78 years and 12 days.

She was married to John F. WALTERS February 8, 1877. After their marriage they located on a farm near Caledonia. In 1900 they moved to Mount Ayr. Mr. WALTERS preceded her in death October 6, 1920. Since that time Mrs. WALTERS has spent most of her time in her own home, with the exception of five winters, which were spent with her sister, Mrs. Mariah ABARR of Redding, Iowa. Her brother, C. E. POORE, has made his home with her part of the time.

No children were born to this union, but her neice, Olga (POORE) WATSON, now of Grand Island, Neb., was reared in their home and was with her aunt at the time of her death. Two step-children, Mrs. Jonathan STUCK and Lee WALTERS, also lived in the home part of the time.

Those left to mourn her departure are her aged sister, Mrs. Mariah Abarr of Redding, and two brothers, C. E. POORE of Mount Ayr, and W. A. POORE of Beaconsfield, also Mrs. Jonathan STUCK and Lee WALTERS of Mount Ayr, and Mrs. Ed WATSON of Grand Island, Neb., besides a host of relatives and friends.

Those, besides her husband and parents, who have preceded her in death are as follows: Her brothers, J. M., A. M., and D. W. POORE, and sisters Lydia Amanda POORE and Isabelle BAIRD.

Mrs. Walters was a loving and devoted wife, a kind friend and interested in all good things. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She became a christian when quite young and was reared in a christian home, her father being a minister. She has been a faithful member of the Methodist church all her life, and as long as health permitted was a regular attendant at the church services.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Mount Ayr Friday afternoon, August 8, at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. Jesse JOHNSON, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, and interment made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS.

We wish to acknowledge with sincere thanks the many kind deeds of our neighbors and friends extended during the illness and at the death of our loved ones (sic); also for the floral offering. - The Relatives.
