LELAND WALTERS

Leland WALTERS was born December 11, 1906 at Beaconsfield, Iowa. His parents were Jap & Jennie (BUNKER) WALTERS. Leland passed away on February 13, 2008 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

In 1927, Leland married Helen SHERMAN and to this union was born one daughter Virginia Lee. They later divorced. On January 11, 1958 Leland married Donna (BONE) GIRDNER. From this marriage Leland gained 2 wonderful daughters Alice Jane, 14 and Peggy Sue, 9.

Leland loved the farm and working with cattle and horses; however life gave him a variety of work to do; truck driving, mobile park owner, working on a cattle ranch and after he retired in 1995, he went to Omaha, NE and worked at his nephew’s service station. When Leland was in his 80’s, he finally retired for good and moved back to Beaconsfield.

Leland was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; 3 sisters and their husbands Cora (Frank) BURLEY, Lois (Perry) ROSS, and Elma (Paul) GERMAN; 1 brother and his wife Chris (Wanda) WALTERS.

Left to cherish his memory are three daughters Virginia McALEXANDER & husband Kenneth of Beaconsfield, Jane PALLAS of San Rafael, CA, and Peggy CHRISTIANSON & husband Roger of Papillion, NE; 6 grandchildren and their spouses; 10 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
