OBITUARY - THOMAS JEFFERSON YOWELL
Thomas Jefferson YOWELL was born March 13, 1846, near Louisville, Ky., and departed this life July 15, 1930, having reached the mature age of 84 years, four months and two days. He was married to Mary Jane SMITH, of near Caledonia, Iowa, on the 6th day of March, 1883. To this union was born three children: Miss Laura YOWELL of Clarinda, Iowa; Mrs. Rosa DALY of Kellerton, Iowa; and John Wesley who preceded him in death about 10 months ago. He also leaves seven grandchildren, one sister, Martha WRIGHT of Louisville, Ky., one brother, John YOWELL of Mitchell, Ind., and a host of other relatives and friends
Tom, as he was known by his neighbors and friends, was an old settler and early pioneer of Iowa, having resided on a farm on which he lived on the farm on which he lived at his death for 37 years, and a resident of the state of Iowa 55 years. Tom was a successful farmer, having endured the trials and hardships of early life and was always in favor of bettering the conditon in this community.
The funeral service was held Thursday afteroon at two o'clock, at the Mt. Zion church, conducted by Rev. Kelly CAMPBELL, pastor of the Assembly of God church of Trenton, Mo., and interment was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
NOTE: Thomas' wife Mary Jane (SMITH) YOWELL was born in 1854 and died in 1945. Their son John Wesley was born in 1894 and died in 1928. Their daughter Laura M. was born in 18843 and died in 1961. They were all interred at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ringgold Co., IA.
