Inez F. REECE, 84, of Creston died September 12, 2005, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 15, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St. The Rev. Lyle KUEHL will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at Creston. Open visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. John's United Church of Christ.
Mrs. REECE, daughter of Laura Mae (RUBY) and Otis Nelty PERKINS, was born January 31, 1921, at Knowlton near Diagonal. On June 5, 1940, she married Howard William REECE in Diagonal.
She worked at Greater Community Hospital as a certified operating room technician for 34 years. She received her technical training on the job with Dr. KUHL and Dr. HOYT. She also worked as a cook at St. Malachy School for six years and 2 1/2 years at the Creston congregate meal site, and as a greeter at Wal-Mart for six years.
She was named a Gold Star Mother and past president of the VFW Auxiliary and Women's Society of the Shannon City Methodist Church. She was a member of the Shannon City Methodist Church and transferred membership to St. John's United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (husband Lanny) GRAY of Athens, Ga.; two sons, Marion (wife Shirley) REECE of Udall, Kan., and Kenneth (wife Ellen) REECE of Creston; sister-in-law Mac PERKINS of Grimes; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; son Wayne REECE in 1967; infant daughter Patricia in 1943; seven sisters, Alice Viola SORENSON, Mettie CHEW, Maisel RUSSELL, Bernice PERKINS, Vildren WOODS, Carmel AKERS and Golda HERBEL; and four brothers, Ray, Clay, Martin and Addie PERKINS.
