July 12, 2004OBITUARY - MARGARET L. "MARGE" (COOPER) LUSE
Margaret L. "Marge" LUSE, 77, of Keosauqua died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2004, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with Steve LUSE and the Rev. Bryon WIXOM officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service, at the church.
Mrs. LUSE donated her body to Des Moines University for scientific study. Cremation will follow the study.
Memorials to Habitat for Humanity, Happy Day Express Day Care Center or the Arthritis Foundation may be brought to the service or mailed to the family at 812 Division St., Keosauqua 52565. Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. LUSE was born February 13, 1927, in Centerville, the daughter of Frank S. and Bertha (HIXSON) COOPER. She married Velman LUSE August 31, 1947, in Centerville.
She graduated from Centerville High School and attended Centerville Community College. She assisted her husband in ministry in Christian churches in Tingley/Diagonal, Pleasantville, Norwalk, Washington, Cedar Rapids and Panora in Iowa and in Mount Sterling, Sullivan, Bloomington Rock Island in Illinois. Currently, they were serving Hedrick Christian Church.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield.
During her years of active service, Mrs. LUSE had been a member of Christian Women's Fellowship and church choirs, a Sunday school teacher, church youth group and camp counselor, Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader, craft coordinator at the Washington County care facility, nursery school/day care teacher, home health provider and office worker. She had worked for Keosauqua congregate meals. She was a member of Van Buren County Historical Society and Villages of Van Buren.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda HOOD and husband Mike of Eureka, Ill., and Marcia NELSON and husband Doug of Rock Island, Ill.; two sons, Steve LUSE and wife Sara of Macomb, Ill., and Tom LUSE and wife Sue of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Julia SEEDS of Indianapolis, Ind., and Helen Triebswetter of Centerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
