OBITUARY - LEE DAVENPORT

Lee Davenport, 89, of Diagonal died March 21, 2005, at his home.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the First Baptist Church in Creston. The Rev. Robert SAUSER, the Rev. Lyndon DAVENPORT and the Rev. Dennis NORDINE will officiate the service. Burial will be in Diagonal Cemetery. There will be open visitation after 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Diagonal. Memorials may be directed to Gideon Memorial Bibles.

Mr. DAVENPORT, son of Florence C. (PETERSON) and Hugh L. DAVENPORT, was born December 1, 1915, in Diagonal. He graduated from Shannon City High School in 1932. On December 18, 1935, he married Belvadean SIMPSON in Indianola. On December 8, 1987, he married Frances MILLER in Creston. He was a farmer and backhoe operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creston, Ringgold County Farm Bureau and Gideons International, and was a former 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife Frances DAVENPORT of Diagonal; a son, the Rev. Lyndon (wife Dea) DAVENPORT of Sioux City; three daughters, Karolyn McCAIN of Phoenix, Ariz., Melody (husband the Rev. Dennis) NORDINE of Ludington, Mich., and Cebu, Philippines; stepson Wally (wife Judy) MILLER of Creston; two stepdaughters, Linda (husband Larry) WILMETH of Indianola and Trudy WILLIAMS of Morrison, Colo.; two brothers, Hubert (wife Yreva) DAVENPORT of Clearfield and Dean (wife Betty) DAVENPORT of Creston; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son Randall DAVENPORT, and sister and brother-in-law Beva and Kenneth MORROW.
