OBITUARY - LYLE IRVING ROGERS

Lyle Irving ROGERS, 76, of Lenox, formerly of Creston, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Taylor Ridge Estates, in Lenox.

Services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 3, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. Creston. The Rev. Dwayne HENRICHS will officiate the service. Burial will be Greenlawn Cemetery Afton, with military graveside rites by Theodore J. Martins V.F.W. Post #1797. Open Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Taylor Ridge Estates and American Heart Assoc.

Mr. ROGERS, son of Gladys M. (HUMPHREYS) and Gar A. ROGERS was born January 9, 1930, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School and attended the University of Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo., before graduating from the University of Iowa. He taught school for a short time before serving in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-1955, during the Korean War.

He settled in Arizona where he worked as a forest ranger. He later moved near Fresno, Calif., to continue his work as a forest ranger in Yosemite National Park, before returning to Creston, after suffering from some health problems and to Lenox in 1994 after the death of his mother. He was a member of the Methodist Church and lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Survivors include a niece; two nephews; friend Barbara LIGHTNER of Creston and friend Gerold (wife Jean) WILEY of Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Doloris VINSON and a brother, Myron ROGERS.
