OBITUARY.

Bro. William REED was born in Mifland county, Penn. April 7th, 1818, died at his home three and one-half miles north of Mt. Ayr, Iowa, June 17th 1885. He was married March 30, 1843 to Amanda YOUNG of Aaronsburg, Centre county, Pa., with whom he lived for 42 years. The same year of his marriage he was converted to God, and joined the M. E. Church to which he proved loyal and faithful to the end. He has been a resident of Ringgold county for 18 years.

His sweet quiet gentle life has left a lasting impression on the minds of his friends and acquaintances. His closing days were characterized with a profound conviction and an unshaken confidence that Christ was his Savior: When asked by the writer if his faith was firm in God, he said; "how can I doubt Him who has been true to me so long, I will trust Him."

He left a wife and two sons and one daughter, who have the sympathy of a large nubmer of friends. A large concourse of people attended the funeral services which were held at the M. E. Church in Mt. Ayr. His remains were taken to the South [Rose Hill] Cemetery for interment.

NOTE: Amanda (YOUNG), wife of William REED, was born in 1821, and died at the age of 76 on January 29, 1898 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
