DEATH of SAMUEL FINLEY BUCK

After an illness of several months' duration, S. F. BUCK, a life-long resident of Washington township and one of Ringgold county's most highly respected citizens, passed away Thursday, August 21 [1930]. Mr. BUCK had been critically ill for several months and had made a number of trips to the hospital where specialists were consulted in the hope of obtaining relief, but his ailment was such as to baffle the skill of the best physicians and during recent weeks it was known that he could not recover. and, fortified by implicit faith, looked forward to the end with admirable resignation.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the United Presbyterian church in Mount Ayr and were largely attended. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Dr. Jesse JOHNSON, and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].

Samuel Finley BUCK, youngest son of Wm. John and Mary Elizabeth (WALLACE) BUCK, was born on September 11, 1889, and died August 21, 1930, and would have reached his 50th birthday in 21 days. He was born, lived, and died on the old family homestead.

He was married on September 21, 1904, to Genevieve "Jennie" Miller DENHART, who died on November 11, 1908. To this union was born on son, Everett Denhart BUCK. On September 28, 1910, he was married to Lora Mae DENHART, and to this union were born three sons, Robert Kenneth, Howard Samuel, and James Warren.

He united with the United Presbyterian church of Mount Ayr while yet a boy, and remained a member of the same church until his death.

Sam, as he was known by his many friends, was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was of a happy, cheerful disposition, ever ready to help any who needed aid.

He was loyal to his family, to his church, and to his community, and always a pal to his boys.

He leaves to mourn his departure a loving wife, four sons, and one grandson, four brothers, and two sisters, besides many friends and neighbors.
