OBITUARY - MRS. MILES C. BROWN

Abbie C. (GRAY) BROWN was born in the state of Ohio, March 17, 1857, and departed this life July 1, 1928, at St. Joseph, Mo.

She was married to Miles C. BROWN September 25, 1881, in Worth county, Mo. To this union were born six children. The living children are Jessie E., Cheyenne, Wyo.; Geo. W., Chappell, Neb.; Roy M., Chugwater, Wyo.; Burton R., Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mabel M. THOMPSON, Mount Ayr; Ira S. departed this life three years ago July, 1925.

She is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Mary GEIGGER, of Cripple Creek, Colo.; Dan, of Cripple Creek, and Bethel of Prescott, Arizona; eleven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. BROWN has lived most of her life at Mount Ayr, coming here when but a girl. She taught school in Iowa and Missouri in the early eighties. She was a member of the Baptist church, later attending the Assembly of God church and was a faithful worker of that church until the time of her death. She lived a devoted christian life, living daily the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

She loved her home and family and was happy when ministering to their needs. She was a friend of the sick room. Her loving touch was felt by the sick and dying for miles around. Her Lord gave her a special ministry among the sick and suffering. She was a loving wife, precious mother and kind neighbor and will be missed by loved ones and friends. Earth's loss is heaven's gain.

"The Passing of a Christian Soul," composed by Mrs. Viola RICHEY in memory of Mrs. Abbie BROWN:

She passed away like a bird on the wing,
So swiftly her spirit fled.
And the house of clay seemed shattered and old
As she slept in the sleep of the dead.
We folded her hands, toil worn with love,
Closed the eyes which could smile or weep;
Closed the eyes which could smile or weep;
And we watched the sunbeams upon her brow
As she slept in her last long sleep.

And then as the hours went slowly by
And our hearts one by one seemed to grown.
By a magnet drawing us nearer to God,
We were given His power to know.

We could see it all through our vision of light,
How the jewels He takes from below,
Are to show us the road to His heavenly home
And His love and power to know.

And now as time moves slowly on,
We take of the fragrance she left,
To scatter it here and there as we go
On the ones with sorrow bereft.

It's a beautiful world when our lives are in tune
With the God who created all things.
If we take our loss along with our gain,
Thank God for the promise it brings.

Card of Thanks.

For the kindness of neighbors and friends, expressed in helpful acts and generous sympathy, and for the beautiful floral tributes we are profoundly grateful. --Miles BROWN, Miss Jessie BROWN, Mr. and Mrs. Alden THOMPSON, Mr. and Mrs. B. R. BROWN, Mr. and Mrs. George BROWN, Mr. and Mrs. Roy BROWN.
