OBITUARY - JOSEPH CHARLES BROOKS

Joseph Charles BROOKS, son of Squire S. and Esther BROOKS, was born in LaPorte, Indianna (sic), April 17, 1856, and departed this life July 4, 1927, aged 71 years, two months and 17 days. He came with his parents to Harrison county, Missouri, when but a child, later coming to Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane JONES March 5, 1879. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls, Perry O. BROOKS and Mattie BROOKS, of Kellerton, Iowa, and Mrs. W. A. GREEN, of Waterloo, Iowa; one son, Marion Monro, having preceded him in death. He has made his home in Kellerton for the past 32 years. He leaves a wife, three children, also two brothers, Mack D. BROOKS of Leon, Iowa, and Daniel BROOKS, of Kansas; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held at the residence in Kellerton and interment was in Maple Row cemetery [Kellerton, Iowa] Wednesday, July 6, 1927.

NOTE: Also interred at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, Iowa: Elizabeth Jane (JONES) BROOKS, wife of Joseph Charles, born May 14, 1861 and died December 7, 1938; Marion M. BROOKS, son of Elizabeth and Joseph Charles, born unknown and died February 1, 1920 at age 37 years and 8 months; Perry O. BROOKS, son of Elizabeth and Joseph Charles, born in 1880 and died in 1948.
