OBITUARY CHARLENE BROOKS

Charlene BROOKS, 92, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Community of Christ Church with Newt Carleton officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. BROOKS was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She moved to Amarillo in 1957 from Fort Dodge, Iowa. She worked part-time at Sears and Starks Wrap and Gift. Her most loved job was being a homemaker, wife and mom.

She was an active member of Community of Christ Church.

She married Don BROOKS on April 25, 1952, at Des Moines, Iowa. He died in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynda GRAY and husband Jim of Amarillo; a son, Rich LAZEAR of Kona, Hawaii; two grandsons, Todd GRAY and wife Catana of Amarillo and Scott LAZEAR and wife Melanie of Reno, Nev.; a great-grandson, Grayson LAZEAR of Reno; a brother, Rex FULLER and wife Ruth of Hot Springs, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Donna Jean HAY of Fort Dodge; a brother-in-law, Vernon BROOKS and wife Myrle of Highland, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to MC's Private Care, 4807 S. Rusk St., Amarillo, TX 79110; Vista Care Hospice, 7116 W. Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79106; Meal on Wheels, 219 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101; or The Bridge, 804 Quail Creek Drive, Amarillo, TX 79124.
