GEORGE HASS.

The given cut [above] shows the residence of that genial gentleman and worthy citizen Geo. HASS. Mr. HASS is comparitvely a new man among us, but comes from a long residence in our neighboring county of Worth, just across the Missouri line. Mr. HASS was born in Homes county, o[hio]. He served in the 192d Ohio infantry [Company A] and was in Cahaba prison six months. On the way home, April 27, 1865, he was on the steamer "Sultana," which blew up and caused a loss of 1400 lives. Mr. HASS swam eight miles in his successful effort to save his life.

He went in 1866 to Worth county, Mo., where he lived until October, 1893, when he moved to Mt. Ayr. Here he bought the handsome property show above and has improved it.

Mr HASS served in 1867-8 as county judge in Worth county. He was married Dec. 25, 1868, in Wooster, Ohio, to Miss Barbara WEIMER, and they are the parents of five children.

NOTE: George HASS was born in 1842, and died in 1933. Barbara (WEIMER) HASS was born in 1840, and died November 21, 1907. They were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
