I don't think I can help with the birth date but the grave stone in Ivy Hill cemetery in Malcom has John Wentzel as being born 1861, died 1953 and Augusta born 1867, died 1939. There is a will listed for Augusta in Will Book E page 502. That would be located at the courthouse in Montezuma, IA.
