Official copies of Vital Records are available from the Poweshiek County Recorder's office.  Try the link below.

If an unofficial copy is sufficient, or to determine whether the birth was officially recorded, inquire of the Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society (http://showcase.netins.net/web/powshk/).  They have extensive transcriptions of Poweshiek County records.  They're good folk!  8^)
