In Response To: Grave of Grandfather (Ginger)

I did a quick search on Richard Gage and he was living in Westfield (now Fayette), Fayette County, Iowa in 1856. I saw evidence that he died in 1859 in Brooklyn, Poweshiek, Iowa -- but that does not mean he was buried there. Perhaps his son William ('Bill') was living in Brooklyn, Iowa and taking care of him in his later years. If Richard's wife Sarah died and was buried in Westfield/Fayette and they had a stone already there -- maybe it was his request to be buried there in Fayette County, Iowa. I doubt he is buried back in Vermont or New Jersey where he may have been born -- but, you never know.
