Heidi Jo Ferneau, 55, of Grinnell died on September 18, 2019, at Unity Point Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12th at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with Anne Bacon officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the Smith Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice or Poweshiek Animal League (PALS) in Grinnell.

Heidi was born on March 24, 1964, in Washington, Iowa. She was adopted soon after her birth, in June of 1964, by her loving parents, Curtis and Betty Ferneau. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1982. After graduation she worked on the family farm, east of Grinnell.

Heidi dedicated her life to her family with lots of love and care, she was totally devoted to her grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her grandchildren and nephew and tending to her vegetable gardens.

Heidi is survived by her mother, Betty Ferneau of Grinnell; two daughters, Jennifer (Jake) Kriegel of Malcom and Katie Jo Ferneau of Grinnell; two siblings, Kirk Ferneau of Grinnell and Joni (Steve Brown) Ferneau of Lombard, Illinois; and six grandchildren, Corbin, Brielle, Garrett, Elaina, Kaden, and Ronan, with two more grandchildren on the way. She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis in 2009 and her brother, Jonathan Ferneau in 1978.
