H. DALE FLEMING

H. Dale Fleming was born at Sully June 15. 1928, the son of John and Phoebe Sheesley Fleming. He grew up and attended school at Sully before the family moved to Montezuma where he was graduated from high school in 1945. He then worked in Montezuma at the feed store and then for the Ford dealership.

In 1948, he was married to Lona Layer, formerly of Brooklyn, at Montezuma. They lived there until moving to Atlantic in 1958. Dale worked at Walnut Grove for 30 years until retiring in 1990. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic, and loved bowling, where he was the secretary of the "Nite Owl" League for over 25 years.

Surviving are his wife, Lona; two sons, Dennis and wife, Marie Fleming of East Horsley, Surry, England, and John Fleming of Atlantic; two daughters, Rebecca Fleming of Cambridge, Mass., and Connie and husband, Eric Coleman of Omaha, Neb.; and seven grandchildren, Maia, Heather, Jason, Katie M., Daniel, Mike and Siri. Also by one brother, Lawrence and wife, Allene Fleming of Montezuma; one sister-in-law, Irene Fleming of Montezuma; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Roy Fleming; and one sister, Eleanor Fleming.
