Funeral services were held Tuesday at the George L. Gay funeral home in Iowa City for Mrs. Ida Reed Johnston, 79, of Coralville, Iowa. She died February 18 at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Mrs Reed was born December 7, 1898, in Wright county, the daughter of J. D. and Eleanor Shearer Reed. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers college and taught in the Montezuma school system. She married John Johnston on December 3, 1921, in Des Moines. She was a member of the Congregational church, Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. William (Jeanne) Freeman of Coralville; and a son, John D. Johnston of Wooster, Ohio; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband and a grandson.
