QUENTIN E. ROSE

Quentin E. Rose, 68, of Deep River, passed away at his home on June 8, 1987.

He was born on July 10, 1918, near Guernsey, Iowa, the son of Earl F. and Flora Rinehart Rose. He graduated from Guernsey High School in 1936 and attended William Penn College. In April 1941 he entered the U.S. Army and served with the 34th Div. during World War II. He was honorably discharged in July 1945.

On January 25th, 1946, he was united in marriage Margery Hall at Marengo. They made their home in Deep River. Quentin was a retired grocer. He was a member of the Morrison Schrader American Legion Post 296; VFW Post 788 at Cedar Rapids and the Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Deep River Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife Margery; two sons: Lawrence E. Rose of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Paul Q. Rose of Deep River; one daughter Kathleen D. Rose of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren; one brother Rex Rose of Deep River and five sisters: Nina Rohr of Ladora, Opal Emal of Henderson, Nevada, Elsie Besse of Cincinnati, Ia., Donna Williams of Moline, Ill., and Merna Cordes of Cedar Rapids. Other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 10, 1987, 2 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with Rev. Ernest Grimm of Kalona, Ia., officiating. Mrs. Evelyn Icenbice was the organist.

Honorary casket bearers were Claudis Axtell, Newell Keller, Dale McWilliams, Ollie Moore, Harold Johnston, and Dean McWilliams. Casket bearers were Joe Keller, Kenneth Keller, Leland Winegarden, Robert Brennan, Richard Geiger, and John Winegarden.

Graveside military rites were conducted by members of Morrison-Schrader Legion Post 296 of Deep River, Ia. Interment was at Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River, Ia.
