GERALD "PETE" KRIEGEL, 75

Gerald "Pete" Kriegel, 75, of Brooklyn, died Friday, January 25, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services for Gerald Kriegel were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Richard Okumu, pastor, officiated. casket-bearers were Terry Kriegel, Shawn Kriegel, Toni Houghton, Chad Rubner, Kristy Rubner, Mitch Zimmerman, and Jenalee Zimmerman. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. A scripture service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at Nevenhoven Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.

Gerald "Pete" Kreigel, son of John P. Kriegel and Mary Rich Kriegel, was born July 26, 1926, in Madison Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa. Pete received his education in a rural school. His life long occupation was a farmer, farming west of Brooklyn. He served with the US Navy during World War II.

On February 15, 1947, Pete was married o Kathleen Marie Niner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are his wife, Katy; two sons, John Kriegel and Lynda Hawkins of Brooklyn and Ron Kriegel of Cedar Rapids; three daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Kenneth Rubner of Cedar Rapids, Patty and Merle Hall of Brooklyn, Christine and Ron Heidt of Cedar Rapids; five brothers, James of Malcom, Richard of Marengo, Lawrence of San Juan, Tex., Glen Joseph and Kenneth of Brooklyn; two sisters, Gladys Healey of Toledo and Mary Jane Rich of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Terry and Shawn Kriegel, Toni Houghton, Chad and Kristy Rubner and Mitch and Jenalee Zimmerman; five great grandchildren, Alex Slaymaker, Taylor, Austin, Allie and Bria Houghton.

Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, Stephen; two sisters and seven brothers, Lloyd, William, Melvin, Stella Henle, Marjorie Henle, Elmer, Lyle, Wayne and Louis.
