GLEN JOSEPH KRIEGEL

Glen Joe Kriegel, age 81 of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at his home. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn with a Scripture Service to be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be contributed to the Brooklyn Food Bank or Grinnell Hospice.

Glen Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda; his children, Laura (Bruce) Blankenfeld, Karen (Kenny) Thomson, Cheryl (Rick) Burnham all of Grinnell, Mark (Deb Gingerich) of Deep River, Curtis (Angie) of Hartwick, Kevin (Lisa) of Hartwick, Mindy (Dave) Ward of Rock Creek, and Ginny (Marty) Burkle of North Liberty; twenty-one grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister Mary Jane Rich of Nashville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Stephen; a granddaughter, Jessica Kriegel; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Graff, Luke and Ivy Riedel; twelve brothers, Lloyd, Bill, Gerald, Louis, Elmer, Lawrence, Richard, Melvin, Wayne, Lyle, James and Kenneth; and three sister, Stella Henle, Marge Henle, and Gladys Healey.

Glen Joseph Kriegel was born May 1, 1934 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the son of John and Mary Roth Kriegel. He attended the Poweshiek County schools and served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He received his GED while in the service. He and Linda Guddendorf were united in marriage on November 19, 1954, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The couple farmed in the Brooklyn area for many years. He enjoyed farming, but always remembered to put his family first. Glen Joe was a member of St. Patrick's Cathlic Church and also served on the Calvary Cemetery Board.
