Berniece Beck Funeral Service Held Monday.

Funeral services for Berniece Beck were held at 2 p.m., Monday at the Steffy Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. George Snyder. Miss Alice Underwood played the musical selections and accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stahl who sang "In The Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were Nile Hutchinson, Dale Johnston, Walter Johnston, Tom K. Johnston, Francis Johnston and Vesta Johnson.

Berniece, daughter of David and Mae Byers, was born on a farm northeast of Montezuma, Dec. 23, 1896, and died at Dayton, Ohio, January 3, at the age of 64 years. In her youth she attended the local rural schools, and became a member of the Methodist Church.

On February 14, 1924, she was united in marriage to Frank Beck. To this union three children were born. Their daughter, Irene Mae, died in infancy.

They made their home in Poweshiek County until about 20 years ago when they moved to Michigan, where they resided for a few years. Later they moved to Ohio where they have since resided.

Mrs. Beck was a member of several clubs and community organizations in addition to her church society. She had had a perfect attendance record of seven years at the Murlyn Heights Congregational Christian Church Sunday school. For the past three years she had been in failing health.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Max of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Glenn of Sedalia, Missouri; three sisters, Lola Johnston, Marshalltown; Helen Mouchka, Vallejo, California, and Neola Osborn, Newton, three brothers, Thomas Byers and Alfred Byers, Montezuma, and Paul Byers, Waterloo; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
