Funeral Sunday for Etta Provin, County Pioneer. Etta, daughter of Eliza and Josiah Beason, was born in Poweshiek County, Iowa, on May 1, 1879, and passed away at her home on November 12, 1959, at 80 years of age.

When she was a child, she became a member of the Forest Home Church, later transferring her membership to the Methodist Church.

On March 2, 1904, she was united in marriage with Perry Provin. To this union two children were born. Their entire married life of over 55 years, was spent in Poweshiek County.

Her entire life has been devoted to caring for her family. Her son, Russell, has been an invalid since childhood, and she has given him loving care.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Russell, and one daughter, Lucille; three sisters, Alta Johnson, of Newton, Dilla Swangle and Lela Slycord, of Montezuma; one brother, Floyd Beason, of Rock Island, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 15, at Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. George Snyder in charge. Burial was in the Jackson Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were Clyde Provin, Floyd Johnston, Elwood Provin, Lyle Paige, Carl Provin and Lester Slycord.
