RAYMOND KIRBY DIES;
SERVICES HELD TODAY

Raymond H. Kirby, 55, of Malcom died Friday evening at the Grinnell General Hospital East, following an illness of the past two months.

A lifelong resident of Poweshiek Coutny, Mr. Kirby was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Pleasant Township, Poweshiek County. He attended the Pleasant Twp. rural schools and also the Grinnell schools.

He was united in marriage with Elaine Johnson on June 23, 1934 at Kirksville, Mo. Following their marriage they lived in Grinnell for a short time and then moved to the Malcom community where they farmed until two years ago. For the past five years they have lived in Malcom and for the last two years he was employed at the Fisher Governor Co. in Marshalltown. He was a member of the Sheridan Methodist church.

Survivors include his widow, Elaine; two daughters, Patricia and Mrs. Gerald (Karen) Duncan, both of Malcom; two sons, Dennis and Richard of Malcom; two grandchildren, Craig Duncan and Rocky Smith; two brothers, Elvin of Grinnell and Delmar of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Otto of Grinnell, Mrs. Eula Roberts of Moulton, Iowa, and Mrs. Eunice Sande of Iowa City. Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Kirby were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. James Davidson, pastor of the Malcom Methodist church, officiated and interment was in the Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.

Organist was Mrs. Vernon Jensen, and pallbearers were Marvin Kolars, Daniel Weisskopf, Ross Mitchell, Raymond Schilder, Edward Barnes, and LaVern Sandstrom.

He was the son of Henry and Effie Gregson McGinn.
