MRS. JOHN BUSHONG FUNERAL THURSDAY AT M E CHURCH

Funeral services for Mrs. John Bushong were said Thursday afternoon, March 4, at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church with Rev Paul Ellis, pastor of the church, in charge. Bill Rempp, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Esther Moore, sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Casketbearers were Sylvan VeVerka, Donald McKee, Wesley Malcolm, Ralph Peters, Clarence Simpson and Thomas Byers. Interment was in the Jackson Township Cemetery.

OPAL PHYLLIS JOHANNES

Opal Phyllis Johannes, daughter of William and Belva Johannes, was born in Mahaska County, August 11, 1912, and passed away at her home near Montezuma, March 1, 1954, at the age of 41 years, 6 months and 20 days. When she was a child she came with her parents to the Montezuma community where she spent all the rest of her life.

On Nov 25, 1931, she was married to John Floyd Bushong in Lancaster, Mo. Mr. and Mrs. Bushong made their home in Montezuma for a number years. Then, in 1942, they moved to the farm four miles east of Montezuma which has been their home ever since. To them were born two sons, Kenneth of Montezuma and Billy at home.

She is survived by her husband and two sons; her father, William Johannes of Montezuma; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Van Hoever, Mrs Audra Anderson and Mrs. Doris Snider, all of Montezuma; two brothers, Carl Johannes of Montezuma and Ivan Johannes of Marengo; besides many other relatives and friends.
