MILES BUSHONG WAS BURIED MONDAY
Passed Away at Iowa City Saturday Morning
Leaves Wide Circle of Friends And Relatives to Mourn His Death

Funeral services for Miles Bushong were said Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Steffy Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Ellis delivered the sermon.

Mr. Bushong passed away Saturday morning, March 11, at the University hospital in Iowa City following several weeks illness. He spent most of the 75 years of his life in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties.

Mrs. C.W. Gorsuch sang "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Alice Underwood at the piano. Casket bearers were C.W. Gorsuch, Louis Gorsuch, Clyde Gorsuch, Walter Van Whye, Fred Curry, and Sammy Curry. Interment was in the Masonic-IOOF cemetery.

JOSEPH MILES BUSHONG

Joseph Miles Bushong, son of John and Mary Elizabeth Lawton Bushong, was born on a farm southwest of Montezuma in the Forest Home vicinity on Dec. 31, 1874, and passed away March 11, 1950, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 10 days. As a boy he attended the Forest Home rural school and joined the Forest Home Christian church.

On February 23, 1896, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Gorsuch and to this union five children were born, Mrs. Matilda Swink of Salem, Ore., Mrs. Wanda Kelley and Mrs. Helen Owen of Des Moines, John F. and Harold M. of Montezuma. Mr. Bushong made his home with Harold in his declining years.

He spent most of his life in Poweshiek and Mahaska counties, and was never too busy to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend.

Besides his immediate family, he leaves five grandsons, Max Ray and Leslie Clair Swink of Salem, Ore.; Donald C. Owen of Des Moines, and Kenneth Floyd and Billie Lee Bushong of Montezuma. There are also two great-grandchildren Leslie Ann Swink and Steven Ray Swink of Salem, Ore. His wife, parents two brothers and one sister have preceded him in death.
