GEORGE GILMORE FUNERAL HELD THURSDAY

The funeral of George Gilmore was held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29, at the Steffy Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gamble officiating. Mrs. Keith Steffy was the organist.

Casket bearers were Newell Keller, Carl Baustian, Leamond Stevenson, Menzo Seaton, Melvin Elliott and Clem Fahrney. Interment was in Golden Rod Cemetery at Deep River.

Mr. Gilmore, 80, died at Community Hospital, Grinnell, Tuesday, Dec. 27.

George, son of Catherine and Frank Gilmore, was born near Brooklyn, Iowa, on Aug. 16, 1886. In his childhood he moved with his parents to a farm south of Deep River. He attended rural school and Deep River High School, graduating in 1902.

On March 4, 1908, he married Cleone Mayo. To this union three daughters were born, one of whom died in infancy. They made their home on a farm near Carlyle, South Dakota, for several years. In 1913 they moved back to Deep River.

After the death of his wife in 1941, Mr. Gilmore moved to Lake View, Iowa, where he worked for a construction company.

He is survived by his two daughters, Phylis King of Des Moines and Helen McClain of Deep River; three granddaughters, Valerie King of Des Moines, Sue Henkle of Montezuma and Sally Johnston of Burlington.
