Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Wolfe of Deep River were held at the Steffy Funeral Home Monday afternoon, August 24, with the Rev. Leo Wilson officiating. Music was provided by Miss Alice Underwood. Casket bearers were Daryle Wolfe, William Harry, Mayo Stanford, Jeff Stanford, Raymond Harry and Kenneth Johnson. Burial was at Jackson Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Wolfe, 75, was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Phoenix, Ariz. on Tuesday August 18. The daughter of Eliza and Isaac Harry, Mary Ellen Harry was born April 12, 1895 in Poweshiek County. In her youth she attended rural school.

She was united in marriage with Charles Sutphin and to this union one son was born. She graduated from Palmer's Barber College in Cedar Rapids and barbered in Keswick and Millersburg. She operated her own shop for 15 years.

She united in marriage with Leslie A. (Tom) Wolfe and they lived in Millersburg and then moved to Deep River. Mr. Wolfe died in 1969. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Harry Charles Sutphin, Sr. and his wife Georgia, of Phoenix, Ariz.; one grandson, Harry Charles Sutphin, Jr. and his wife Mary Anne, of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; one grand-daughter, Mary Ellen Sutphin of Phoenix; a sister, Grace Fisher Johnson of Libby, Mont.; three brothers, William Harry of Barnes City and Elza and Cecil Harry of Montezuma. She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
