SERVICES HELD FOR ISAAC HARRY

Funeral services were said Sunday in the Barnes City Methodist Church, over the body of Isaac Elisha Harry, who passed away at his home in Barnes City Thursday, September 14. Rev. Carl E. Wilson of Deep River was the minister in charge, and music was provided by the Moore brothers of Gibson, piano accompaniment by Mrs. Moore. Pallbearers were Eldon Hockey, Harold Moore, Jess Stilson, Charlie Zorn, Ira Groenenboom and Ed Allely. Internment was at the Montezuma Cemetery.

Obituary

Isiaac Elisha Harry, son of Otha Bowman and Mary Caroline Harry, was born July 29, 1861 near Brooklyn, Ia., and passed away at his home in Barnes City, Iowa, September 14, 1944 at the age of 83 years, one month and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Armstrong, February 27, 1889. They began their life together on a farm in Poweshiek County where their family of eight children were born: Ethel. William, Ella, Lewis, Elzy, Cecil, Forrest, and Grace.

Ike as he was called, joined the Methodist Church in Barnes City about 1922 where he attended pretty much regularly until his later years.

Mr Harry has been a farmer most all of his life and, for the past 30 years in the Barnes City Community. Mr Harry had enjoyed good health throughout his long life and, for a man of 83 years, was quite active up until the hour of his death. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother and two children, Lewis and Forrest.

He leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs Mary McFerrn, Montezuma, Iowa; one half sister, Mrs. May Slack, Dorcey, Nebr.; and one half brother Samuel Fry, in Washington State; six children, Ethel J. Critchlow, Ottumwa, Iowa, William C., Barnes City, Iowa Mary E. Wolfe, Deep River, Iowa Elzy J., Montezuma, Iowa, Cecil T., Deep River, Iowa Grace Fisher, Montezuma, Iowa; also 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Four of his grandsons are in the armed service across the sea.
