February 23, 1897 ---- February 11, 1922

Louis Isaac Harry was born Tuesday February 23rd 1897 in Scott Township, Poweshiek County , Iowa and departed this life, February 11th 1922, at his parent's home in Barnes City, Iowa, being at the time of his death, 24 years, 11 months, 12 days.

He attended school in Scott and Jackson Townships where he grew to manhood. On July 28th, 1920, he was united in marriage to Miss Lola Spain who survives him. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and one child, Donna, his parents Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Harry: three brothers: William C.; Elzy J.; and Cecil, and three sisters, Mrs. Wilbur Critchlow; Mrs. Ella Sutphin; Grace besides many other relatives and friends. One brother Forrest preceded him in death. Nearly two years ago, Louis contracted a severe disease which despite every effort made to combat it, refused to give way to treatment. All the kind hands and good care and medical attention could accomplish, he grew gradually worse. Complications soon set in, and although at times he seemed to rally somewhat, yet improvement was but temporary and he gradually became weaker.

At times during his illness he suffered great pain and most of the time he was never free from pain, yet he bore his sufferings without murmur, and tried to give as little trouble under the conditions from which he was suffering.

He fought off death with great determination, yet the grim reaper was not to be denied. At times he had hopes that he might get well. Louis was a member of the Methodist Church at Barnes City. He made his decision for Christ last summer and took his first communion soon after. He made every effort to live for Christ, and would always ask for prayer when the pastor called. Many times he told the pastor he was ready to go when the time came. He died peacefully as a child going to sleep, and is with the Lord and free eternally from pain and sorrow. The funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 13 at the Barnes City M.E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. J. Scott.

The pallbearers were Homer Musser, Chas. Lester, Ike Leester, Harry Rugg, Geo. Fisher and Jimmy Low. The remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. and Masonic Cemetery at Montezuma.

The I. E. Harry family wish to express their sincere thanks to the many friends who assisted them in the hour of their sorrow and bereavement.
