W. C. Harry Rites Held Here; Died Feb. 13, 1975

Funeral services for William C. (Bill) Harry of Barnes City were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb 15, in the Steffy Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Richards officiated at the rites. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. John Westercamp and Mrs. Bill Landstrum.

Casket Bearers were Harold Lester, Gale Riggs, Bill Walston, Charles Hamilton, John Westercamp, and Bill Landstrum. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery at Montezuma.

Mr. Harry, 82, died Thursday Feb. 13, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. The son of Isaac and Liza Armstrong Harry, he was born Jan. 5, 1893 in Poweshiek County. He attended rural school and on Oct 17, 1917 he married Mabel Austin. They farmed near Barnes City and in 1928 moved to Barnes City where he was a carpenter and did custom work.

He served as Worthy Patron of the Tennyson Lodge of the Order of Eastern Star for over ten years and latter transferred his membership to Chapter 146 in Oskaloosa. He was a member of the Harold White Shrine and he was a volunteer fireman for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Elza and Cecil Harry of Montezuma, a sister, Grace Fisher of Sacramento, California; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents; he is preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Forrest Harry and two sisters, Ethel Critchlow and Ella Wolfe.
