July 7, 1853 --- October 10, 1903

Mrs. Archibald Armstrong died at her home in Chester township, Oct. 10, 1903 of Bright's Disease, Mrs. Armstrong was in in 51st year of age.

Miss Ella A. Lewis was born in Elmira, New York July 7, 1853. When two years old she moved with her parents to Illinois and remained there until 1876 when she came with her parents to Iowa and settled near Grinnell.

On February 12, 1895 she married Archibald Armstrong. To this union one child was born, Foster L. Armstrong. By a previous marriage four children were born, Sadie, who departed this life just 10 years ago on the day of her mothers death, Dora, George and Newton Webster all residents of this community. Years ago Mrs. Armstrong confessed faith in Christ and united with the church and has since lived a consistent christian life. She was very happy in her home life and she did much to make others happy. For the sake of her husband and four children she clung to life but was ready to go if the Lord willed it.

She leaves a husband, four children, father and mother, one sister and four brothers to mourn her loss.

The funeral service was conducted from the house at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon by the Rev. R. F. Lavender of Wittenburg, formally of Gilman, her body was laid to rest in the Chester Cemetery. At this service was a very large concourse of neighbors and friends who paid their last tribute of respect to one who held so large a place in their affection.

Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. Thomas Armstrong of Preemption, Ill., and his daughter Miss Anna Armstrong, Mr. F. Armstrong and daughter Miss Mary Armstrong of Rock Island, Ill., Mrs and Mrs. Clark Chafee of Wiota, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Alley and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Allen of Montezuma, Ia.
