Ruth Baker Sartwell, 67, of Grinnell died Friday morning at Friendship Manor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Black, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Organist will be Judy Black. Pallbearers will be Richard Brignon, Bill Davenport, Don Donohoe, Joe Hasley, Kenneth Main, Tom Robertson, and Gordon Van Donselaar. Flower bearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Carl Boget. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Searsboro. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene.

The daughter of Frank and Allie Tahash Brignon, she was born Feb. 20, 1910, near Searsboro. She attended school at Searsboro and was graduated from Searsboro High School in 1929. On Dec. 21, 1929, she was married to Raymond Baker in Grinnell. The couple lived in the Searsboro area following their marriage and moved to Grinnell in the late 1950s. She was employed at Cunningham Drug for many years. On Aug. 10, 1968, she was married to William Sartwell. She was a former member of the Grinnell American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Sartwell had lived at Friendship Manor since 1973.

Survivors include her children, Don Baker and Mrs. Tilford (Norma) Innis, both of Grinnell, and Mrs. James (Wanda) Powell of rural Newton; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers and three sisters, Rollo Brignon of New Sharon, Mrs. Marie Main of Marshalltown, Glen Brignon and Mrs. Leo (Mamie) Watson of Searsboro, Ernest Brignon of New Sharon, and Mrs. Alice Myers of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roscoe Brignon.
