GREENE, IA - A funeral Mass for Grace L. Nettleton, 82, of 309 South West St., Greene, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greene. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene, where there will be a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Grace Lenore Anastasia Fleener was born Aug. 22, 1916, in Stewartville, Olmsted County, Minn., a daughter of Clair and Ruby (Boget) Fleener. She died Tuesday (May 4, 1999) at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. She received her education and graduated from the Searsboro High School in 1934. In April 1936, she was united in marriage to Charles Hoyt Wildman at Lynnville. They lived in the Lynnville-Searsboro areas, later moving to Kellogg. In 1950, they moved to a farm in the New Sharon area.

On Aug. 1, 1955, a traffic accident claimed the life of Hoyt Wildman and his daughter, Judy Diane. Shortly thereafter, Grace moved to Greene, where she was employed at the Wildman Cafe. On Jan. 23, 1960, she was united in marriage to James R. Nettleton at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene. They made their home in Greene, where she assisted Jim in his dairy cattle business, traveling to sales throughout Iowa and Minnesota.

Grace always had an interest in athletics, having played basketball and softball during high school, and as an adult enjoyed watching those sports on television. She was a Minnesota Viking fan. The greatest joy of her life was her grandchildren, and having them come and visit her.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and a member of St. Jude's Circle.

Living family members include her husband, Jim Nettleton, of Greene; two daughters and their spouses, Joan and Joe Cochran of Suisun, Calif., and Jean and Fred Nordmeyer of Greene; four grandchildren and their spouses, Mitch and Marge Nordmeyer, Neal and Jacque Nordmeyer, Stacy Morris, and Susan Morris; four step-grandchildren and their spouses, Susan Nordmeyer, Sally and George Dixon, Sheri and Everett Collins, and Michael and Sue Cochran; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters and their spouses, Gail Wildman of Reinbeck, Audrey and Mel Dudolski of Reinbeck, and Louise and Cal Taylor of Marshalltown; and one brother, Earl and his wife, Ann Fleener, of Grundy Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband and daughter, and two brothers, Craig and Lyle Fleener.
