RAYMOND 'RAY' F. DAVENPORT

Raymond "Ray" F. Davenport, 85, of Galena, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 8, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Dubuque. A private family burial of cremains was made in the Church Columbarium.

He was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Muscatine, adopted at the age of six months by Frederick and Clara Mae Reavis Davenport. He was raised in Grinnell, and graduated from Grinnell High School in May of 1944. Ray attended North Central Bible College, Sioux Falls College, University of Chicago and graduated from the University of Iowa. He has lived and worked in Chicago and its suburbs, working for Secretaries Inc., Brain Research Foundation, Commerce Clearing House and The Christian Brothers of Illinois. Ray was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, MU Deuteron Chapter.

Survivors include Alfred "Al" Christensen, his beloved partner in life for 58 years and Al's family; as well as other dear family members and friends.
