GEORGE BURKART

George C. Burkart, 60, of 877 15th Ave., Marion, died Friday afternoon June 9, at St. Luke's Hospital of complications from emphysema.

The body was cremated and there was no visitation. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Inurnment was at Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell. Arrangements were by Baxter-Martinson Funeral Chapel in Marion.

Born March 8, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he married Gerry Phelps on January 13, 1964 in Bayside, N.Y. The couple moved to Marion in 1966. Mr. Burkart was employed at Rockwell-Collins from 1966 until going on medical leave in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry; a brother, Raymond of Mineola, N.Y.; and two sisters, Ruth and Anne, both of Glen Oaks, N.Y.
