RANDALL BUTLER

Randall D. Butler, 44, of Walden, N.Y., formerly of Grinnell, died after a long illness Sunday, Dec. 30, at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, N.Y.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, with the Rev. Stephen Jasch pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The son of Dale W. Butler and Mary F. Long, he was born Sept. 16, 1957, in Grinnell. He was a 1976 graduate of Grinnell High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1993 and was stationed at several bases throughout the U.S. and abroad.

He moved to Walden and was employed as a supervisor for SSI Services, West Point, N.Y. He was married to Deborah Jones.

Mr. Butler was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Lydell Scroggins of Edgewood, Md.; one daughter, Nakeisha Dyer of Edgewood; his mother, Mary Parmley of Grinnell; two grandmothers, Irene Long and Lucille Butler, both of Grinnell; four brothers, Richard and Michael Butler of Grinnell, Bradford Parmley of Grinnell and Christopher Parmley of Omaha, Neb., three sisters, Lisa Parmley of Council Bluffs and Sylvia Parmley and Valeris Leviton, both of Tucson, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Thomas Parmley.
