RONALD C. BUTLER

Ronald C. Butler, 64, of Grinnell died of heart failure at his home Saturday, Dec. 7, 2003.

A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 15, at Smith Funeral Home with John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. Memorials may be made to the Ronald C. Butler Memorial Fund.

The son of Carl and Lucille Ahrens Butler, he was born June 12, 1939, in Grinnell. He was raised in the Brooklyn area and was a 1957 graduate of Brooklyn High School and later attended Parsons College in Fairfield. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was married on Jan. 18, 1963, in Iowa City to Mary Niemann and the couple farmed near Malcom before moving to Grinnell in the mid-1970s. He was employed for several years with Manatts and later Farmhand prior to operating his own trucking business. Most recently he had managed several apartment complexes in Grinnell. He was a member of the Grinnell Eagles Lodge and the Vintage Auto Club.

He is survived by two sons, Jeff Butler of Bellevue, Neb., and Andrew Butler of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Kelly Morris of Macomb, Ill., two grandchildren and one brother, Willis Butler of Sweeny, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne and Dale Butler.
