SERVICES TODAY
FOR MR. BUTLER

Arnold Butler, 65, of Colton, Calif., and formerly of Grinnell and Malcom, died Monday, Dec. 25 at a hospital in San Bernardino, Calif. He had been ill for the past three months.

Mr. Butler was born April 1, 1907, in Jasper County just west of Grinnell, the son of Robert and Lucy Parmley Butler. He attended the Malcom schools, and served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He had lived in California since 1946.

Mr. Butler was never married.

Survivors include his brother, Carl Butler of Grinnell; five sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Ruby) Ahrens of Grinnell, Mrs. Fred (Gretchen) Beck of Malcom, Mrs. Eugene (Myrle) Rink of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. Homer (Faye) Virgil of Rice River, Calif., and Mrs. Leo (Grace) Duarte of Chino, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert.

Funeral services for Mr. Butler will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home in Grinnell. The Rev. Elmer Elzey of the Trinity Lutheran Church of rural Malcom will officiate. Organist will be Mrs. Leonard Pearce.

Pallbearers will be Paul Ahrens, Donald Ahrens, Raymond Ahrens, Wayne Butler, Ronald Butler, and Steve Butler. Burial will be in the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.
