WARREN LLOYD SIMPSON

Warren Lloyd Simpson, 70, of Montezuma, died Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Grinnell Hospital.

He was born March 20, 1921 in Poweshiek County, the son of George and Alice (Morrow) Simpson. He was graduated from Montezuma High School in 1938. He entered the U.S. Army on June 10, 1942.

In December, 1942, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Opal Bell at Lancaster, Mo.

Lloyd served overseas during World War II and was honorably discharged on Nov. 1, 1945.

They lived in Montezuma, where Lloyd drove a truck for National By-products for 32 years. After retirement he worked at the Montezuma Senior Home. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post at Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Chester and Clair.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Evelyn of the Senior Home at Montezuma; four sons: Charles Eugene of Seoul, South Korea; Melvin L. of Victor; Roger D. and David L., both of Montezuma; a granddaughter, Stacy Lee Simpson of Wellman; a sister, Helen Willett of Brooklyn; a brother, Robert Simpson of Montezuma; and other relatives and many friends.

The funeral was Jan. 20 at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma. Pastor Warren James, Regular Baptist Church, Montezuma officiated.

Honorary casket bearers were embers of V.F.W. Post, Montezuma.

Casket bearers were: Raymond Johnson, Vernley Bone, Vernon Vander Leest, Marvin Taylor, Robert Sanders, and Homer Taylor.

Military Graveside Rites were performed by members of Blakley-Stevens Legion Post 169, Montezuma. Interment was at the Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.
