MISS CLARA MCINTOSH

Although the death of Miss Clara McIntosh was not unexpected, the news of its occurrence on Saturday morning brought inexpressible sadness into hundreds of homes where she was known and loved. Death resulted from tubercular peritonitis after a lingering illness which had long been developing unknown either to the sufferer or her friends. The real condition was only discovered at an operation for other troubles some weeks ago.

Clara McIntosh was a universal favorite among her schoolmates in the city schools, in the College, where her course was cut short by her weakness, and in the wide circle of her town friends, old and young. She was one of those kind of young women to know whom is to respect and admire. Winning in manner, generous of heart, thoughtful in action and beautiful in word and deed she had led a life of perfect gentleness and purity. Her taking away just as she was on the threshold of what promised to be a life of rare sweetness is hard to reconcile, and the family have the unbounded sympathy of hosts of friends who share their loss. She was just a week past twenty-one years old.

Funeral services were held at the home of her father yesterday afternoon at four o'clock, conducted by Professor Charles Noble. The pall bearers were cousins of the deceased, Dr. E.P. Somers, Frederic Morrison, Frank Morrison, C.F. Chase, A.L. Ricker, and E.S. Parish. The music was furnished by a quartette consisting of E.J. Jaqua, R.H. Lyman, D.F. Peck and Louis Hopkins.

A profusion of lovely flowers attested the wide popularity of the deceased and expressed but slightly the general sorrow which is felt over the loss of so sweet a character. The Herald joins its sympathy with that of friends of the sorrowing family over this great loss in their family circle.
