MABEL LOYD RITES TUESDAY

Mabel L. Loyd, 90, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, April 22, at the Cedar Rapids Care Center.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and vocalists were Ruth Ann Dayton and Wilma Schmitz. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa.

Memorials in Mrs. Loyd's name may be made to the Grinnell Christian Church and left in care of the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of George and Ida Hinton Minks, she was born Sept. 25, 1893, at Omaha, Mo. Following her education, she taught in rural Appanoose County schools.

On Sept. 14, 1917, she was married to Walter Loyd at Centerville, and they farmed southeast of Malcom for 31 years. In 1955, they moved to a farm near Monroe, then moved to Grinnell in 1969. Mrs. Loyd was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church. She moved to the Cedar Rapids Care Center in July 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Liddell of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Glorine Loyd; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Forrest and Estell Minks.
