MARVIN D. DRAKE, 94

Marvin D. Drake, 94, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at Silvercrest at the Woodlands in Clive, where he had resided since September of 2003.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, at the Westover Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Demastus officiated. Musicians were Neil Johnson, organist, and Fred Leonard, vocalist. Interment was at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Marvin was born April 15, 1922, in Russell, the son of James Franklin and Elizabeth Ellen (Webb) Drake. He received his B.A. degree from Drake University and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Marvin married Maedene McCormick on Dec. 18, 1943, and they moved to Des Moines in 1951. He taught junior high in the Des Moines Schools for 25 years. He taught at Goodrell and Wilson Junior Highs, retiring in 1976.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Maedene; two sons, Dennis (Jackie) Drake of Brooklyn, and David (Renee) Drake of West Des Moines; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
