AMELIA PORTER RITES TO BE HELD FRIDAY

Amelia J. Porter, 80, of St. Francis Manor died Tuesday afternoon at St. Francis Manor.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Porter will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Harry Linnenbrink officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

The Scripture Service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call. Should friends desire, memorials in Mrs. Porter's name may be made to the Carmelite Convent and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Rauch Hunstock, she was born Jan. 12, 1898, at Early. She attended school at Early and was graduated from Early High School. She later received her teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls.

On July 15, 1925, she was married to Howard F. Porter at Spencer. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Porter lived in Atlantic before moving to Des Moines in 1945. Mrs. Porter worked as a dental assistant for the Laing Dental Office.

She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Des Moines and later was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Urbandale. After her husband's death, she moved to Marengo to live with her daughter. She had lived in Grinnell for the past two years and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church here.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Ross (Jean) Mitchell of rural Grinnell; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; six sisters, Anne Hunstock of Des Moines, Mrs. Alice Casey of Ames, Mrs. Carrie Sash of Atlantic, Mrs. Clara Rowden of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Louise Hager of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sister Mary Maurice of Dallas, Pa.; and one brother, Lawrence Hunstock of Sacramento, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five sisters, and three brothers.
