SISTER HUNSTOCK

Sister M. Maurice Hunstock, R.S.M., 86, a former teacher at schools throughout northeastern Pennsylvania, died Sunday evening in the Wilkes-Barre Mercy Hospital. Otilla Rita Hunstock was born May 22, 1904 in Early, Iowa, daughter of the late Henry C. and Mary Rauch Hunstock. After her early education at Sacred Heart in Iowa, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Dallas (PA) on June 12, 1923, and professed her vows on Jan. 2, 1926. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from College Misericordia? and taught in Diocesan Schools until 1972. She spent most of her teaching career in Hazelton, Towanda, Plains and Wilkes-Barre; she also taught in the New York schools for some time. Since 1972, she has been in the Apostolate of Prayer at Mercy Center, Dallas. Surviving are two sisters, Anne Grenelle and Alyce Casey, both of Ames, Iowa. Transferral to Mercy Center was held this afternoon with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Arrangements are by the E. Blake Collins Funeral Directors, Wilkes-Barre and Kingston.
