CONDUCTED MON.

Charles J. Garrigan, 76, of 1008 West Street, Grinnell, passed away Friday afternoon at University Hospitals in Iowa City. He had been hospitalized the past ten days.

He was the son of Charles and Amelia E. Schuman Garrigan and was born April 25, 1891 in Grinnell. He attended the local schools. On December 26, 1917, he was married to Rose Katherine Ourada at Marinette, Wisc. To this union were born three children, two of whom survive: Kathleen E. Garrigan of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Myron (Jean) White of Rte. 1, Grinnell.

Mr. Garrigan had made his home in Grinnell all of his life and was a building contractor and brick mason. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge.

Mr. Garrigan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1952; his son Francis Charles Garrigan on January 25, 1967; and his brother Michael P. Garrigan. He is survived by his two daughters, three grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sinn of Iowa City and Mrs. Mayme Wells of Grinnell.

Requiem Low Mass for Charles J. Garrigan was conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Leo V. Kuebrich, pastor of St. Mary's, officiating. Pallbearers were Bruce Collum, John Hotchkin, Keith Paul, Ray Pieper, Marion Onthank and Bob Weiser. Burial was in the Calvary section of Hazelwood Cemetery. The Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home.
