HENRY ADOLPH AHRENS

Henry Adolph Ahrens was born Nov. 30, 1875 at Reading, Ohio, where he lived in boyhood and was confirmed in the Lutheran church. In 1893 he came with his parents to Iowa and settled north east of Grinnell. On May 15, 1901, he was married to Miss Ella Zart of Conroy, where they lived eleven years.

They then moved back to Grinnell and after two years moved to the home north of town.

He brought with him from Conroy a letter from the Presbyterian church and united with the Congregational church at Chester.

He left five children, Inez, Delmar, a freshman in College, Sheldon, Alden and Jean Ellen; another child Henry G., having died in infancy.

Two brothers W.J., and Edward F. and a sister, Miss Minnie, live in Grinnell. Another brother, Frank F. lives at Conroy. Of his sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Meyer lives at St. Bernard, O., Mrs. Ella McMillan at Van Nuys, Calif., and Mrs. Dora Geiger at Guthrie Center.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and was attended by many friends, an unusually large number of whom followed the body for interment in Hazelwood cemetery.
